After a lot of work, I decided to call it "finished". I tried to improve it, using some good suggestions from Michael Severin, but I think the shadows are still not quite right. But anyway, I kind of like it!

Jessica. I think the painting has great character. What will help it if you crop the left hand side a little . Suggest you put your hand there first ( by the crack) and you will see that the composition changes dramatically giving more emphasis to the right side light. It also takes the subject matter away from the centre slightly.

Thanks Silvana!  There was just something about this elderly man trying so hard to keep his bit of the street clean that caught my eye - despite the graffiti & cracks in the wall, he really cared about it!  But I will have to think more about notan before attempting such a scene again!

I think that is the most imortant thing... one has to decide... Ithink I will have to learn that!!!!! The man is really great!
