I decide to do some studies on form myself as I am also not good at that. I choose a red apple as I find red very challenging to get different values for it without changing it to pink.

Good start Aurelia! The light side of the apple needs to be lighter.. The value must be correct....that was the my key mistake! Value is king. Don't be afraid to paint it pink. It looked a bit rediculous first. But then i added the highest saturation at the shadow/light edge and form was turning! Think some pure cad red dark would be ideal for your apple.
