365 Paintings in 365 Days #37
5x7 inches. Oil on Board

I added a little more to this one and reposted it.

Learning Points:
1. Color theory. The blue background makes the yellows much brighter and more intense (not necessarily what I wanted, but was an experiment.
2. Painting small; these small ones are harder than the larger paintings
3. I am still working on getting lost and found edges.
4. Composition: this one was tough. How do you make a sunflower with a big dark center not look like a bullseye? I think if I had made the background dark instead of blue it would have balanced it out and I still could have used a very dark blue/black for my experiment.
I am doing one more of these sunflowers tomorrow. I am actually using silk flowers and my imagination for the model. This one I held up in front of a bright lamp to see the bright colors.
