Worked on this quite a lot, incorporating suggestions from Michael S - mainly on the reeds & water. I appreciate any more ideas anyone has to improve this! Thanks!

Michael - your suggestions about the reeds & the sunlight & colour of the water made a huge difference; they seemed to bring the painting to life with the added light/dark.

Pauline - thanks! I appreciate that coming from someone who paints forest scenes so beautifully!

Silvana - yes - I never would have thought of putting those dark colours of the cliff into the water!

Laura - thank you! It's a lovely place in the north where many people go hiking in the summer because they can cool off in the water as part of the hike.
