Original Oil Painting by Jeri McDonald. 11x14
I tried to capture the warm highlights coming in from the far left foreground to hopefully replicate snow and shadow. I really like how I was able to get the eye to travel through the foreground to the mountains where the sun hits the top of the rolling hills in the center. First time painting snow. Love these new panels I'm working on. They have a slot cut out on the back so you can hang it up without framing. I still prefer frames.

Very nice Jeri!
Thank you for the input and compliments everyone. The barn is supposed to be at an angle and I didn't have anything to go by so I just winged it. It's been a long time since I have had any perspective classes and that is why I made it small! Hoping I could get the illusion correct. I was reading in a book by Joyce Pike, a favorite artist of mine, that she suggests getting at least one side of a building correct as possible with perspective and the rest the best you can. This new year I am going to purchase the Virtual Art Academy class to learn as much as possible about drawing and painting.
Nice painting, the barn is sliding down (like Ann mentioned). The houses normally are higher then our eyes, so the lines of roof shold fall little down in the distance...(perspective).
Beautiful scene!
Beautiful foreground and use of colors. The way that you have used value and soft edges in the farground is effective to move the viewer into the painting. Something bothers me about the barn, check the perspective. It might just be me but it looks like it is sliding down the hill to the left. The cool purple shadow and the orange grass compliment each other nicely.
It is lovely Jeri!
