Thank you Ann, Montalvo and Ro for your comments!  The board: I was blessed with a huge box of 11 x 9-1/2 boards when our office remodeled a few years ago.  They were used at the legal assistants stations to separate different papers and were just going to be thrown out.  Ask & you will receive. (smile)  I try to use them when I can for studies.  They have a hard very light dull yellow (similar to a value 9, very light, grayed yellow ochre) coating on both sides. If you look, you can see that color show thru in some of the near lightest areas.  The board is very smooth.  I try to paint thick juicy strokes.  I have tried sanding it to give it some bite, but the stuff is so hard, sand paper wouldn't even touch it.  I don't know what the coating is and have settled to just use them for studies.  The oils seem to adhere well to it.  The board is still a little damp in the white, so I can't glaze yet, but I did a quick study yesterday with colors instead of glazing, and will it post soon.  Got to get off the computer so I can paint.  Yikes!!  :D

I like your "color" choice. It lends a brightness to the value study. Is your board textured ?

Learning alot by what everyone is posting. Nice job. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out with the glazing.

Wow, that already has so much life to it.  Well done.
