What an experience Betsy! But it's great! I  love the way you have named your painting!!!! I think many of us have sweated.. :)! I like all your painting, but whatI really love is the clouds and sky with the downpour!

Whew! This painting drove me nuts! First there were the paints! I need to buy another tube of UB, I used so much of it. There were piles and piles and piles of mud. Did mention PILES OF MUD?

THEN there were the rocks--which went through--count em'!--5 iterations! OMG! I lost my drawing so badly at one point, my husband the GEOLOGIST, labeled the painting "Geological Mystery; because rocks like mine have never been seen anywhere on earth! I finally ended up with this configuration. I WASN'T trying to be "creative" or "stubbornly independent"  believe me when I tell ya! But I let it go, when he assured me that rocks like these new ones actually DO exist on earth....somewhere...

The water was challenging, but at least I could catch my breath.

Then there was that dreaded storm! I tried and tried and tried to replicate  the "model." It was a no go on my easel. I kept ending up with one pure unadulterated mess in the background. So, since I was on a deadline, I looked out the window and started copying clouds. I made up the arrangement--not sure it is compositionally sound--but I simply HAD to get this done today (work tomorrow). My husband called it TORCON 5.

Then there was the photography. Not sure what happened to my shadows in the foreground rocks. They are not that washed out in reality. They are dark. I also noticed that the colors look okay on my PC, but if I run my HDMI cord to the TV and display it there, everything is MUCH, MUCH warmer (I..e., way too red). It's the difference in monitors, I suppose. So be forewarned.

THE END! (Thank goodness..)   ;-)
