The Christie R is a crabbing vessel in our harbor here in Crescent City, CA. I took this photo before we had our recent tsunami and I have not seen this boat there since it happened. I'm guessing it was destroyed. The tsunami really hurt our crabbing industry and is costing millions to repair the harbor damage. Many locals like to buy paintings of the boats here at our local gallery which is why I painted this one. I do like the aged look of this particular vessel, so I painted it with all it's rustic character in oils.

Thanks guys! Glad you like it as it is my first attempt at painting a boat. My grandmother was amazing at painting tall ships from days of old in oils. I hope I can be as good as her someday.

What a story Jeri. Christie is beautiful. I'm sure you'll have luck in selling your painting. I am terribly sorry about the tsunami. I have heard nothing about it.
