Mel - Thanks for the encouraging comment. The brushstrokes worked well. Pity the photo is not sharp. This was really hard to photograph, as it's still completely wet... just finished. Couldn't get it sharp and without reflection... Cell-phone pic. Maybe I'll post another when it's dry.

Carolyn - Thank you. This one was a challenge, but interesting. Alla prima, as you say. Long story behind the title... it's the subject of many conversations between us. Can we change? Or are we subject to things in our make-up that can never be changed, however hard we try?

Again, wonderful work. You give your subjects such grand expressions. Kind of a reluctant half-smile on this gentleman. You are an alla prima portrait/figurative artist, no doubt. Always so curious about the story behind your work.
