Thank you Candi, Britt and Charles.  This is just a a subject I enjoy painting.  I don't have a ranch, but many of my friends do and I love to go on holidays spending time on their farms.  Since I was a little girl, my parents always have their holidays with farmers, so I am used to the farm life and studying farm animals.

Your work (this one and the Milkman) reminds me of an artist I discovered recently, Louisa Matthiasdottir.  Good use of texture, line, space and value to create rich images of ranch life.  Were you raised around or do you raise cattle or just enjoy the subject?

I'm not a planner by nature, but I'm starting to love planning paintings!  You are very inspiring, Aurelia!

THANK YOU AURELIA! Planning, planning, planning!  You just woke me up!  I've been struggling with a class assignment, and wondering why I am even trying to paint,   The painting is more about watercolor techniques, we started it in class, with no reference photo, just the instructors demo.  I hate trying to paint out of my head!  Going to give up on it, and turn in another assignment using the technique, but plan some composition into it!

You are so talented, and so helpful!!!

Off to convert the cm's to inches!

Thank you.  I really enjoy painting my cows!  They are a challenge in themselves.  Candi, this painting is 50 x 33 cm in size.  The Milkman is 37 x 37cm.  I paint in oil.  Here is my planning on the canvas with the golden section.  I first draw the golden section to see where I am going to place my animals, fence and windows.

Very very nice Aurelia!

Another barnyard gem!  What size are you painting these Aurelia? Agree with Ann, and appreciate Michael's note on how you have changed the hues, not values.  That VAA sure is peaking my interest...all you really good painters seem to be really thriving there!
