The Old Gum Tree...SOLD

This was a commission piece. The people wanted the tree as the main feature and the mountain in the background because this is how the country is.
This part of the country is in South Australia, outback Eyre Peninsula.

Richard gives us other sites and places to also find more knowledge so we can all learn and grow from one another. I certainly have grown and learnt so much. Friends also will give you their advice, little blunt sometimes but its all good learning. Its great that everyone encourages everyone to keep at their art. We are all at different levels but at the same time improving, fantastic. I love to look at all the photos to see what others have done because there are so many good pieces on this site, its well worth it to look. Took me a while but I am slowly catching on to how the workshop thing works. Clearly I will have to sign up for the next challenge so i can keep this information well practised. Comment by debbie piro on May 18, 2012 at 13:23: After watching some of the downloads from Johannes, I had a 'wow' moment when I realized that I had done this from a photo reference for a customer and didn't know it. If you had seen the original photo of this that was presented to me to paint from , it looks nothing like this. Thankfully they were very happy with it.

Photo reference only but this is what I came up with. Wow, we are doing things we don't even know we're doing it in a professional way.

Thanks Richard for giving us the site and that we had courage to take the time and watch. We're all better than we think we are so I say to everyone who can pay for and download Johannes lesson's to go ahead, well worth it.
