Thank you Nancy - I love your rose!
I like your reflection of the rose on the cloth!
Beautiful! Looks perfect to me........... Sending you smiles :-)
I totally agree Sharon!
Fay, after looking at many other roses including Richards, I see that the "wilted" petal is the same with all. I looked at them after yours. The shadow should be under the rose not the edge of the table, in my own artist eye mind. lol. But maybe the petal IS wilting or turning under from sitting so long! no pblme... can't wait to see how my own turns out...
Sharon, thank you for your critique. I've painted many roses in watercolours but oils is a totally different matter! In this workshop I really wanted to learn Richard's way of painting a rose - not my own - so can understand your comments. The leaf you read as being a light yellow stem is actually a turning leaf and the light yellow edge is supposed to show the jagged edge of the rose leaf! The stem is behind the leaf but unfortunately is almost lost in the shadow on the tabletop. I can see now I should have emphasised the stem a little more. The "wilted petal" you mentioned is how I interpreted Richard's tutorial. I probably shouldn't have made such a distinction between the light and shade where it turned over the edge of the table. Thank you again for taking the time to comment.
nice rose as a whole, best I've seen so far as far as copy of Richards, but the light yellow stem there throws me and also the petal on the table seems wilted. nice tones.
Thank you so much Martin and Rajesh for your positive comments. They're really appreciated.
very nice
