12x14" oil on RayMar Panel. Thumbutte is Prescott, AZ's Landmark, homely old thing, but we love it. The poppies are a nod to my sister-in-law's Poppies, challenge.

I am in love with your glow into a field of the most beautiful  poppies I have ever seen!  Smiles to you Carolyn : ))

Jan, there you are, glad to hear from you. Thank you for liking and enjoying the painting. And yes, as my note below it says, Thumbutte is Prescott's iconic landmark. Looking just west of my deck there it is in all it's funny glory.  I was raised on six acres just below it with many fond memories therein. Thumbutte will be the subject of several paintings I'm sure, since once I sell my house and leave here, I probably won't be returning. Stay warm. Thanks for stopping by.

How I missed this beautiful sunset poppie field. This is very lovely painting. The poppies just perfectly done!

Thank you Ningning. Actually the Poppies are the center of interest in a confused sort of way. The glow is supposed to be leading right to the larger one in the foreground. Funny you suggested cutting it in two...I've thought the same thing! lol. It is a sentimental composition and could have worked better without the self-imposed necessity of both elements (mountain and poppies) being in the same painting in this way with the "glow" a part of it also. Now that it is posted (whew!) I will work to make it more cohesive. Thanks Ningning for the comments.

I love this painting Carolyn.  Composition and colours  work so nicely.  Is it an area near you?

Wow, those poppies really stand out beautifully! You create such a sbtle changes of light and colour on them. I even think that if you cut the panel half, let the poppies be the center of interest , it might not be a bad idea. Wonderful job, Carolyn.

Thank you, Silvana and Michael. Now that it is "done" ;*) I will take my time and work on those wimpy clouds. But l.a.t.e.r....

(and many thanks to both of you and Karlo B. as well for hitting the "like" button.)

Love those poppies!

Wow, Carolyn, that is beautiful. The foreground spotlight works so well on the poppies. Thumbutte is really impressive. Great sense of drama in this piece. Very well done.
