Thanks very much for your kind comments, Richard - much appreciated.  Yes, cropping the painting as you suggest does make it very much about "them" & I like it a lot.  If I did paint it again, I would certainly consider changing it.  My friend particularly wanted this scene, as it was a special memory for her, so I didn't even think about changing it very much when I painted it!

Hi Jessica. I'm very impressed with your treatment of the figures in this painting. The right hand side of this painting is just stunning.  I'd love to see you do another painting, this time leaving out the lake. To see what I mean, use your hand or a piece of paper to cover up the left side of this image. You will be left with a square format painting with the figures central.  I think it's a better composition, but the resulting painting will be less about the scenery and more about the couple and the closeness or intimacy they share. What do you think?
