Tolowa Dunes here in Del Norte county in Crescent City, is a wonder to behold. The many colors seen at different times of the day here are spectacular. This scene was taken from 2 different photos I placed in with Photoshop. The rocks are seastacks that dot our Pacific Northwest coastline. Enhanced the color, intensity, saturation in Photoshop. I adopted some color combinations from Richard's dune paintings to see if I could capture and learn how to paint the light in the distance. It was very difficult to blend the colors in the sky upward and I think I got a bit too much of white which lowered my chroma in some areas of the sky. Study in oils from my photographs and painted in studio.

Pleasure, Jeri. This really is a beautiful painting.
The grass is laid down by the wind like brushed velvet. Your brushwork is delightful. I wouldn't worry too much about the lowering of the chroma in the sky. It works as a subtle contrast to the glow of the sun. Beautiful.
beautifully painted....
Thank you for sharing the process... it is always good to hear how someone worked their way through to the final painting. I really love it.
What a dramatic painting! Really interesting landscape - beautiful colour.
