Study - 8" x 10" - Soft Pastel on Wallis Paper -- I had an urge to work with pastels as a break from the oil paint. I'm pretty happy how this turned out, though it certainly has its faults. I may do this one again: Refine the design and handle the other things.

Love this Rick! You captured the feeling of the warm sun wonderfully. My attempts at pastel usually ended up with a mess on the paper.... and on me!!

Hi Rick,  I have been a fan of pastels for years and have used them in my portraiture.  I have to say that this is a beautiful painting. Its a joyous thing i could look at it for ages and keep finding new and interesting areas, its one of thoes paintings for me which seems to go on forever.  I love the cool yellow on the right by the tree, then the heat of the warm yellow coming off the side of the building next to it, and of course the spotlight area! Truly lovely!! P:)
