5 x 7 oil on canvas board - another little alla prima practice piece . . . as I really want to achieve learning to paint in an impressionistic style. This one is being submitted after the 23rd, so it is not part of the competition. Used a photo my brother took in Scotland as a reference for the little castle ruins.

The other day I "liked it!" but did not know why so I did not write anything, because I did not know what to say.

To day I came to looked again and now I know this painting called to me "touched me" those delicate brush strokes in the foreground spoke to my heart.........................smiles coming you way : ))

Today I actually looked up the castle and it is Urquhart Castle, now in ruins, which sits beside Loch Ness in the Highlands of Scotland.  My brother's wife is of full Scottish heritage, and they made a trip to Scotland with their grown children about a year ago.  He liked this little painting, so I polished it up a bit, and will take it to him when it dries.

Mary, I believe that it is part of the WS25 pairings.  The 30th is the last day to submit. I am thinking the left side of the castle facing the sun should have some sunlight on it.  I am glad you painted more than one try for the workshop.  The more you do the better I should think.  I am enjoying all the colors you put in the water.

I appreciate you showing this little study. The immediacy of it, the fact that it's not 'perfect', and the reality that it is what it is - a study - is hugely encouraging to me. Thanks for posting.

this will look atrocious if you look at it in "full view" - because it is only a 5 x 7 canvas.  Looking at is "as is" IS the full view.
