I see what you mean Charles. I've gone and had a look at Giorgio Morandi. Never heard of him before, thanks for educating me.

Lawrence, thanks for your critique and comments.  The divide betw the dark and light background appears to be equal but in the painting it is not.  Under the rules of composition, you are correct that the edges of the objects would be more separated and not touching as I have done.  However, it was intentional to create tension among the objects and the sense that the objects are not five singular objects in a setting but one.  Take a long at Giorgio Morandi.  I like his use of spacing and symmetry.

Hi Charles. Lovely soft, yet bright, lighting. Nice abstract elements. Some purists might say the vertical division between light and shade shouldn't be right in the centre but I don't necessarily agree. I think in some cases, including this one, it is appropriate.

My only criticism is that, to me, the orange glass feels cramped, with edges of the bowl and the box just barely encroaching on the edges of the glass. I feel if the bowl and box were a little further to the front (and encroaching a touch more on the glass) it might feel like it has a bit more room to breathe. Still, nice work.
