11 x 14 Watercolor. The reference photo was taken in Arizona by Duane Derr. I didn't include his standard poodle that was in the pic, hence the title.

Thanks, Candi! It's so different from the coast where I live and it fascinates me how much life there is in the desert!
Susan, this is what Duane said, "I thought they were “hanging fruit cholla”… and a little research has convinced me they are. The hanging fruit cholla is also know as jumping cholla, hanging chain cholla, etc, etc, etc. Here are two websites that are helpful… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylindropuntia_fulgida and Hanging Fruit Cholla . "
Thanks Cristina and Susan! Susan, I looked them up and found they were Silver Chollas, however someone from the Watercolor Addicts group asked if they were Joshua trees, which are similar but don't have the cactus tips. I am going to email the man who photographed them, if I find any different I'll let you know!
Superb!! Beautiful composition and use of color Candi!!
Very nice, Candi! I've never been to the desert, what kind of trees are those?
Thanks Laura and Thomas. Thomas, I don't know why but with watercolor I just get totally carried away! I did this one while you were doing about 10, oils next!
It really gives desert feeling. Very well done with these trees, grass, Candi!
