Ian - that seems a very fair asessment - and looking at Mike's comments on your excellent painting I'd noted that - OK, thanks, I'll try to continue with it bearing thtat in mind ('try' being the operative word ;(  )

comparing left two with right one, right one could have more contrast - maybe to darken little shadows (tansparent) in foreground..
