You're right Sharon. Having others critique my works helps me think outside of the box that I have created in my thinking regarding a painting. So thanks!
It is not only too dark, but the trouble is it is like a corner is cut out. But the cloud is a nice woven masterpiece. Maybe a little tiny yellow in the sun would make it even better! I am always trying to make things better. I critique mine until I can't anymore. Then, others can help me.
Thanks Ningning. I think that part of the reason the hill doesn't work is that it isn't connecting with an horizon. This was a photo taken by my daughter in New Zealand. If I showed the ocean as well it would be better. I also agree that it is too dark. Thanks for your comment!
I love your clouds too. a lot of work there. the color change, the value variety, all what Richard hoped us to practise. Nice job. I notised Sharon's comment. I have same fellings with her about the hill or rock at the left corner. It seems a bit too dark compare with your clouds. You may want to keep it. If so, I would put some lighter color on it. you alread have some lighter dark blue, just emphasize a little bit more to give the viewers a sense of rocks or something else. It may help. Just an idea for your refferece.
Thanks Sharon. You're right about the composition. I guess I wasn't thinking about that being too focused on the cloud. I appreciate your comment.
This is very good! Ilike the dark cloud with the bright light behind it. Bold. I don't care for the ground in the corner, though for composition. I know it is hard to remember every thing that goes into a painting. But great clouds!!
Very dramatic cloud, but i like it, well done.
