I couldn't find a canvas but instead found this old canvas that I had primed with some texture paste.. it was a disaster, but I had fun anyway.

Hi Caryl

I want to see it after you have applied the en-caustic wax.  Happy you had fun!  This is eclectic....

Sorry but your tag is  incorrect so this will not show for  Workshop19  until you fix it.  Click on your photo and then click the link where you can edit the tag.

Nothing in a photograph ever looks quite the same as it does in real life, so the painting actually doesn't look as bad as what I am describing. I do other mixed media artwork and so I had primed this for something else, but.. that was a few days ago... today it is completely dry and ready for the encausting wax. I need clear wax which I don't have anymore, so when I do finish I will re post. Love experimenting with stuff. ;o)

Do they have something that can make  oil paintings look old and cracklie??? I like it. Well.. other than experimenting  (which some of us tend to do) you did a good job. Thanks for posting and sharing.  p.s. That's something i would do just to see what  happens.

Before I read your explanation, I was very interested in the texture, it looks cracked and peeling but I think very interesting and was wondering about the procedure. Being creative is sometimes the beginnings of great things. Please repost as you make changes

Because of the texture this is going to take ages to dry... but when it's dry I want apply encaustic wax.
