Thank you Roena Jane and Cathy, when i look at this painting now there's so many things i would have done differently. I have painted over the top with my glazes and its very impressive what you can do with a painting in this way, but i think i should have kept my grisaille a bit lighter to really take the introduction of colour more freely. i will be posting shortly.
Love the warmth in the foreground! The light behind the bridge pulls you in. Perhaps softening the edges of the building, or bringing the softness of the sky onto them might bring you even further into the painting. Seems to be happening on the left, but not so much on the right. But, I love it!
Nice value painting.
Very nice. Good luck on the larger painting for the competition. Roena
Thanks Patricia and Linda, This is going to be an entry into a local painting competition its a view from a park in a city called Bristol. Not this actual piece but a larger one i'm working on at the mo, i'll post as soon as i finish it, they have to be in by the 11th so i've no time to lose!! Good luck with yours Linda, look forward to seeing what you do. Thanks for your support and encouragement Patricia its always nice to here from you! :-))
Very nice Pauline. I like the city & bridge idea to go with the sunset. I guess I better get going with mine!
Very interesting tonal painting Pauline.. I can hardly wait to see the finished piece...
