I started out trying to paint a floral in the style of Daniel Keys. He paints lush still lifes alla prima in a very loose style while giving the appearance of detail. A great example is Andri's paintings that he posted recently. My flowers are definitely looser. Oh well, I will try again. Love to hear your comments. 10 x 20 acrylic

Ah Daniel Keys. I looked on line at his work as I was not familiar with his work. Your painting is very beautiful. I am wondering if the shadows under the flowers should be darker??? at least right up next to them. I bet Daniel paints with the flick of a wrist and his flower petals just appear. LOL Wonder if another darker very thin broken line in a few places might help the pedals "go down between each other"? If this is oils and it is dry, dry, dry, you might try that to see if it takes the petals to a more detailed appearance. I think that is what I was seeing on his flowers. I could not find any red roses to compare though. You just mentioned that his appeared to have more detail. Roena
Thank you so much Laura and Silvana
Lovely flowers and great painting!
Wow! What an incredible story! You have made those flowers live forever Sharon!
I know some peoplehank the flowers upside down until they are dry and keep them, but although a tint is still seen of what they were, the fresh colour just disappears....
There is a story behind the name. Recently while our church was going through renovations, our pastor asked if they could use our pool for a baptism. An 80 year old couple was baptized and these flowers were their gift to us.
I think they are great...! Flowers is something else I'll need to tackle some day....
