Judy, thank you so much for reminding me about the red plastic. I have one and for a 2 second check it will be so valuable. I just figured out how to make my camera take b&w photos (digital) and I can instantly view them in the little screen (very small though), and of course to put them on the computer and turn to gray scale, but that takes more time. My first on line color course I took was from virtualartacadamy.com with Barry John Raybould. His class was much more technical where as Richard Robinson's COLOR course is technical and he shows you what to do with the information. Anyway, I wrote to Barry to mention the red plastic and he said he did not use it because it did not work well on red. He suggested a black mirror (paint a piece of glass black on one side) to look at the painting. I was not impressed with the black mirror at all. Thank you again for reminding me of the red plastic.....I am going to get it out as I plan on painting these color value cubes until I run out of ALL the paint I mixed up! Ro

Judy, how did you find the site? Do you know about Richard's color course?

That is so wonderful Judy. I too wish that people would comment and help me to see so I can improve. There are so many really good artist here. I ask for comments on the egg. Actually I posted the egg and got 9 lookers but no comments. I sent a note to everyone on my friends list and got some help then. I took all the comments and tried to make some of the changes that were suggested, but I think I overdid it. Yikes. LOL I have moved on to working on the exercises in Richard's color course. If you go to the FORUM and look for the COLOR discussion you can see what I have done. I have 2 more that I have done, but thought I would wait until I did a few more rather than post each one every day. I have been putting 4 small paintings/exercises on a 8"x10" canvas. The exercises are to teach you to see colors as values. It is hard for me. I try, but dont notice I am off until I take a photo and look at it in B&W. errrrrrr // So now I am all excited to see this painting you are working on for the show. Good luck on the show! Ro

For some time now, I have been welcoming new friends to the site. I think I will start with you to mention that it is great fun to have people comment on your art too. I posted a painting, and could see that 9 people looked and not 1 comment. So, please look and comment too. There is always "something" good you can say, and if I think I can help I will say that too. There are many far better artist here than I am, but sometimes I know a trick to share. So glad you found us. Ro
