Great to be back home after our adventures in Hawaii and I'm feeling totally inspired to get out and see more of my own country and take my painting to the next level, whatever that might be. What I did today was paint this scene I painted a few times before from slightly different angles so that I could focus on developing my palette knife techniques and other brushwork I've been thinking about. This one's on hardboard so some of the palette knife work looks really smooth and slick - great for some super smooth effects where you need it like water and clouds. I normally hardly use a palette knife at all but I've got a vision of where I want my painting to go and I think the palette knife is going to be a big part of that. Yesterday's painting was part of that exploration too. So far so good.

Lovely paintings, Richard, with the palette knife.  I hope sometime you'll make a video.
