"Ramshackle" 11x15" Oil on Canvas by Richard Robinson

View Online Auction >>

Had a good paintout this morning with Jennie Degroot. I've painted this subject a few times but the wind and flat lighting out there today made this a real challenge, although the photo below will have you believe it was sunny the whole time. My main goal for this one was to invent some strong glowing light on the ground in front of the barn. To do that I did two things;

1. Kept the light area really quite light, including all the little grassy shadows etc.

2. Pushed that warm colour up into the underside of the objects close to it like the barn door and the old tyres.

Now that I get it back indoors I see that I could have pushed this idea even further. Next time. No, there were no chickens.

The subject is not my cup of tea, never the less I like it because  the blues grays and purple in the sky are brought on to the shack making  it lovable!  Happy Painting and smiles to you dor

Wonderful resuscitation of a cadaverous shack. The red really breathes life with the blue-greys in the background. I like what you did.
