Hi Richard,

I see you tearing off the masking tape of your finished painting.  Do you paint on canvas board, unframed canvas, linen or birch plywood?  It looks like when I do a watercolor painting I size the paper first then tape it to my board after stretching the wet paper.

For oil painting I use a stretched canvas on a frame or paint on birch plywood.  Neither of these needs to be attached to a board.

I'm sure the answer is somewhere in one of your videos but I can't find it.

Hi Annie, On March 11, 2015 Richard posted under Blog Posts a very helpful YouTube video entitled "Stretching a Canvas with tape", in which he shows how he stretches the canvas and explains the materials he uses etc. I'm sure you'll find the answers to your questions there.
