Alyson, I think you must in good figure now as you have to work so hard. Please make sure that bedroom have good ventilation for you to work with oils. Another thing is hold youself and wait for the walls dried and then move in. The wet paint is not good for our health. Very soon, you will happyly paint in your new home. And then immediately come back to join us, please. Li
Alyson, thank you for your nice comment. Have you settled down now? Are you happy for your new home? You must have to adjust youself a while for the new envirment. Are you going to join us for the coming workshop? Waiting to see your work soon. Take care, Li
Alyson, First, thank you for like my girls. About Workshop9, you pointed out a very improtant question. Because, I had same worries before. I am detail oriented. If I painted something without detail I would feel guilty. Now, I changed way of thinking. I should sometime paint something with detail and another time do someting without detail, just enjoy the general picture of value and colour with big brush stroke. You will amazed by yourself after a period of practice. I suggest you study Richard's demo and paintings to see details he put on details and how realistic his work showed. Among us there are many good artists with defferente stlyes. For the artists who like simplified paintings also have many good examples , such as Chris, Dee, Marina, Susier, Nancy, Annie, Dania, Svitlana, justina.....Oh, a lot , I can not name all of them. Their work do not have a lot of details but very realistic. It would not take you 3weeks. Maybe 1 week. From a professional to immpressional there is a big gap, we can cross it by mentally overcome ourselves. This is a big thing for you and me and need time and practice. But it is worthy for me. Waiting to see you in workshop9.
Alyson, Thank you. If you have a erge of paint a dancer just get your brush and do it. I believe that anything beautiful and touch your heart will move others. Even if our techniques are not profect, people will like it as it is from our heart and they can tell.
Alyson, I am sorry to tell you that our next workshop is still life as I know. I did not find your work this time. I don't know how horrible your struggle is. I suffered a lot for this one , I tried and failed 4 times of my grapes. That is why they are so dark. I was afraid that I could not be able to complete this painting. I, several times ,wanted to give up. But I overcome my fear. I talked to myself to be honest and do not pretend to be somebody I am not. You know I painted a little girl and many people like it. No one put a pressure on me but myself. I want to show people that I am good. That was my problem and still is. Painting is indeed difficult. The more I learn the more I know how much I am short of. Personally I believe that still life can help your landscape a lot. This is just a learning process. You have already saw so many brave girls and boys here , take a deep breath and gump in to join us. We help each other on the way.
Thanks Alyson. I appreciate your comment. I enjoyed trying a tonal/grey portrait but realising it needs more refinement I stopped with intention of redoing it on something other than paper.
You are such a romantic girl.! Life is hard for most of common people here. By the way, I can only paint still object on site. if they are moving, I have to take photo and paint them later at home. I seldom paint outside. I am not well equiped as art material supply is limited.
Alyson, thank you for your appreciation. If you have a stron heart, yes, you can join them. I could not as I was almost half dead when I sew her at 4800meters above sealevel.
Thank you Alyson to invite me as your friend. I am happy to meet so many people with the same compassion for painting and to discuss and to enjoy the painting process.

It is another kind of beauty. I like your work too. Let's encourage and help each other to be better. Workshop6 is coming!
Alyson, thank you for your genours nice words! My husband told me that this "Two Ladies of Garjamarca" is good for those who have experiences with indians life. They will be able to feel what I felt. But those have never been in the Andies may not appreciate it . As it is not the life they sensed. That is one reason I uploaded here to see whether it will atract people's attention or not.
Hi Alyson, thank you for your kind comments, and for reminding me of Carole Sheldrake. I've seen her wonderful ceramic figures at the Brighton Art Fair, and I believe she studied here in Brighton. I just looked for a website but she doesn't seem to have one...
I see you're in Lincoln!
Jewel lives near by and is my little dogs best girl friend. She was a commissioned 1.5 weeks before Christmas as a surprise gift. I think she is coming back for a few adjustments but I thought I captured her personality. Thanks again for your comments.
