At 4:19 on August 25, 2010, Melanie Harbin said…: I do not have any formal education either and have problems painting due to disabling pain which prevents me from even taking workshops therefore books and the internet are my only source of education. My favorite things to paint are children and pets and the book that helped me the most with children is "Painting Beautiful Skin Tones with Color and Light" by Chris Saper. Chris is famous for her pastel work but the book shows examples in oil and watercolor as well. I too have not yet defined myself as the artist I desire to be but I am working on it mainly by observing the work of the artists that I aspire to. And yes, lets be friends!
