This presented me with so many challenges! Wanting the eye to go through the window to the village scene which was the subject of the painting - keeping the frame (castle window) dark enough to be in the foreground - but without arguing with the gorgeous rooftops of the houses. I was reasonably happy with the result but would love to have been able to paint it more loosely! Interested in any comments on dealing with the problems one faces with this kind of subject.
