I like your painting because of the addition of the rowing and sailing boat. But I see what Richard commented and I understand what he said, but until he pointed it out I did not know.........giggle.........Well I am here to learn!
I like that you open it up, and there is activity, inviting!!!! good job
Yes you're more than welcome to join me painting here David. By 'photo reference' I meant it's hard to paint realistic things purely from memory - you need some photo of a yacht and dinghy to paint from or give you more clues.
Richard, thank you for your comment and kind words, I am really enjoying this painting activity after years of ministry caring for others it is nice to be abe to sit back and find their were other gifts God has given me too, and I am really enjoying the painting challenges and watching how others tackle it as well. Your videos are also really valuable. I hope to get up to the North Island in my motorhome next year and if I get as far as Whangarei I would hope to catch up. Do you mean by a photo reference that I should have said Pah beach? I stretched the photo out to fit the canvas so it probably looks very little like the real thing. Point taken about the distant hills. First attempt at pallette knife on right hand bank.
Yes it does add a nice story to it - good thinking David. Can I suggest you get a photo reference for stuff like that though? It's pretty clear you drew on your symbols rather than observation. Nice clean colour in the water and sky. Your distant hills could do with a bit of pushing back by lightening and bluing (or pinking to go with your sky).
Wow David... This is impressive... I like your original idea of adding the rowing and sailing boat... An awesome focal point.. :)
