This one was shot with less direct sun exposure...compare it with the previous one. So hard to chose which looks closest to the painting.

Hey thanks Jon! Great compliments, especially my brushwork as that always seems so difficult for me. I try to get it consistent and try not to dab like a sword at it. Been using the side of the brush and letting it fall off the ends. The left tree really is that tall believe it or not! Santa Barbara has those everywhere. I wanted to showcase the trees as a balance to the taller canvas and big clouds. When I took the photo, I was so impressed with the clouds more than the people sitting and so I put them into the 2/3 part of the 2/3 to 1/3 ratio.

The differences between the two photos seem very small to me, Jeri (I think we're very sensitive to slight differences when it's our work and still on the easel - as we saw with Michael's 2 versions).

You've really done a good interpreation from the photo ref - that's good - creative and not a slave to the camera or actual scene. I doubt it's a good idea to add sharp edges near the foreground/bottom of the canvas.

Any queries I would have would be compositional aspects (maybe the left tree is a bit too tall, maybe that expanse of concrete is a bit too big and geometrical). All the rest - color and brushwork, etc. seems pretty nifty to me!!
