I thank you for your answer Michael.

I´m preparing a few photos and a blog. I will give you a notice as soon as i can.

Today I did a quick look into your website, but i need some more time of course.

You already caught my attention with a few comments around the Complete artist site but, i´m honest, paint, read, watch a few videos and improve does not give us much free time to us.

I ´m looking forward to change ideas and talks with you.

Thanks a lot once again. All the best.

  • Anja

Thank you Michael for your lovely comment on My swan.

    Love Anja

  • Betsy Jenkins

Thanks for your help! I've learned more from reading this board, and your posts specifically, than I did in multiple art classes and workshops. May God bless you and your family abundantly.
  • Lori Ippolito

Great critiques on the workshop photos Michael..you have such a keen eye and wealth of knowledge..I learn quite a bit from reading your comments. I was pleased that Richard asked you to critique..certainly kudos to you!!
  • Dorothy Debney

  • Sandi Lear

Hi Michael, thank you for accepting!  I have visited your page and am very impressed with your work and your generosity in teaching others, there is much to learn from there.  Thank you for your kind words....all constructive criticism gratefully received....I am an addict....'nuff said ;-D

Michael, I just saw your comment to Ann about the purple mushroom. I was thinking the same thoughts but passed on it. I hope she doesn't take offense, but her little nit pics drive me nuts as well. I almost told Laura that she had cloned her two buildings and the two trees on the top left, but thought better of it. When an artist is making the progress that I am seeing made by Laura and by Jessica, these little nit pics are really not needed; they will eventually correct these little things (maybe not the imaginary purple mushroom). Michael, thank you so much for your kind words, you always seem to point something out to me that I'm not sure I meant to do but it turned out ok! :D

Hi Michael...my computer will not return an email...so I will try this format.............Hi Michael ...Happy New Year...Thanks for these suggestions I,have a tendency to go pant,,,and then post...In fact thats always my process...Sometimes I see things that should be corrected ,however with the thick paint...I just put them against a wall....wait awhile...then reassess >>>However Your feedback is always welcomed and considered.....I don't like to go back in till things dry up...I know it kind of drops off.into nowhere ..... .Painting on location...has its drawbacks...The sky got a little tree color in it and is too dark especially at the horizon....So..thanks...I have no problems with ,,and agree on your remarks..... Thanks for taking the time to write...All the best this New Year..p.s..........Caught myself the cold from hell...so I am a bit rushed ...feeling crappy....I will tweak the painting!!!
  • Pauline Le Merle

I want to thank you for spending time trying to help me.  I appreciate it very much.  You guessed it.  High noon.  Will try to do better on my timing and paint something more simple. Will try for a different umbrella color.  Thank you for the other hints about light on the canvas.  Roena

thank You Micheal, the honor is mine :))

  • Susan Burke

Michael, in your last post about the River picture, you apologize for going on, please know that I appreciate your taking the time to do such a thorough critique! These are the things I need to know and learn if I want to get better and I do want to get better! I want to be the best artist I can be and I know that will take a lot of work. I never learned the basics--now is the time!  And I think I speak for everyone here on the site when I say thank you for the help! If you weren't so nice, you wouldn't take the time to help us!!

  • Glenys Jones

hi Michael, yes, thrilled to receive your lovely reply, so glad to have you as my painting friend across the miles and hope to see many more of your wonderful works.  Keep on painting and making my day in so many ways. :))

  • Tigisti

Thank you Michael for welcoming me! As a new member I was glad to receive your comment and I look forward to share a lot of experience from you. I was impressed that previously you were occupied with your other job and you still were dedicated for Art! right now that is my condition. even if I have got this unfading love to art the way my daily job makes me busy hinders me from practicing my art! And I don't want to give up because I love ART! How did you manage then? I mean before, when you were a part time Artist?

  • Roena King

Yes the wing of the eagle is touching the water.  I did not put so much shadow in the water bc I thought you said you would not have those if the light was directly on the bird.  What should I do to make it read better?  I should have sent it to you before I called it finished.  I even thought to do that but then forgot.  LOL

  • jytte jost

    Dear Mi chael,

I went through you gallery. What a pleasure for the eyes. I have been here for quite a while, just look at jytte jost :o)

  • Sharon Repple

Congratulations on being a Finalist in the February BoldBrush contest, this is so exciting! Long overdue.

  • Cathy McClelland

Hi Michael, thank you for welcoming me, it's wonderful to connect with you.

  • Kathy Guenkel

Thank you for the comments Michael. I see what you mean about the white flower :) Yes, I agree those edges need work. I hope to improve as I learn to handle the paint with practice in alla prima.

  • Roena King

Thank you Michael, I was hoping you would comment about my painting, Evening Light.  I copied it.  I understand what you are saying except about "watch those edges".  I tried to soften........where are the problem edges you are talking about.  Michael, I want to learn how to paint good landscapes.  They are much harder than still life where all I had to do was copy values, colors, etc.  For learning purposes would it be best to continue on with other new ones and try to remember about color temp, ect.........or should I completely try to repaint this one.  or should I just try to fix it?  What would be best for me to learn?  Thanks for your time which I know is very valuable.  Roena

  • Roena King

Thank you Michael for your additional comments on my Evening Light revision.  I understand what you are telling me about the shadow receiving light from the sky and reflected light on things around it.  I will start to really "take note" of shadows and how /light/dark they are compared to other things.  Understanding what you should be seeing to know to look for are

"tricks in the bag".  Thank you for adding my knowledge.  Roena

  • Roena King

One last revision for Evening Light......no rush......as your time allows to comment.

    http://thecompleteartist.ning.com/photo/evening-light-revised-2?con...

    Thanks so much. Roena

  • Roena King

    Thank you Michael........big grin

  • Roena King

Thanks Michael.  I appreciate your help and copied it to my folder for review.  I was still trying to use up left over paint, but perhaps it is hurting me instead of letting me practice using it up?  (no telling how many times those piles have been combined?).  The sky being lighter......it is almost pure white now......so does that mean the distant mountains should be a bit darker to make the sky appear lighter?

  • Ruby

I once again browsed your website and WOW!!!!  Such a delight!!!  There is no doubt about it, you are certainly a ‘MASTER’ Michael.   Your paintings are a delight to the eye and a huge inspiration to me, to many of us, if not all of us.  I envy those who live close enough to you, who know you and who can experience your tutor, your knowledge, as well as your friendship first hand.  You are certainly a very noble, generous man, who offers his time and knowledge freely.  Thank you Michael, you are a very precious GEM.

  • Chuck Warner

Hello Michael, thank you for your nice comment on my ink/wash of the old barn.  I do love doing old structures.  What tales they could tell if they could speak.  Chuck :)
