    My Pleasure Pauline,

I have a lot of catching up to do and will welcome your help when I show my inability with acrylics and brushes. Also I like Bath, having spent a short time there getting the hydra treatment to cure some pain, which it did. Once again ,Love your work,

    T.

  • Trevor Erskine

Great to get in touch Pauline, hope you'll agree to my request.
Doubt if I'll make it to Bath again, but do you know a friend of mine who lives there, Peter Hendy? Recently knighted and commissioner for London's traffic.
  • Trevor Erskine

Great news Pauline, you've made me a happy bunny, and I'm not out of bed yet.
The water treatment in Bath is amazing, if you don't know about it, I suggest you go along and get a brochure. The Olympic team should get this just before they compete.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work and to future developments.
As we say in Ireland, TOP OF THE MORNING TO YOU.
    Trevor.
    PS, GETTING UP NOW!

Great job Pauline. In fact the black car is one of the main pulls. It bring the composition down as well as balancing the picture!

  • Kim Hayes

Thanks Pauline glad to be your friend..As you say not many of us on this side!

Painting is what you want it to be..sometimes it goes incredibly well and other times really, really badly........Once you get a hand on the rudimentals ( and you have) the rest is easy!! Perseverance is the key word!! ...........and I'm sure you have lots of that.

I love the variety, styles and colours in your work..very refreshing!

    Regards

    Kim

Thanks Pauline. I am fine and will be more active here the coming months. I've been up skiing in the Sierras over the holiday weekend (Presidents' Day) and will go out plein air painting up here tomorrow. If the painting turns out well, I'll post it in the gallery. Nice to hear from you. I like your " Forest" series. Stu
  • Stuart J. Gourlay

Me too! Thanks Pauline. I'm looking forward to getting more active on this site; I just needed a break. My plein air painting of Lake Tahoe turned out well; I'll post it along with some other recent plein air paintings when I get back home in a couple of days. Stu
  • Stuart J. Gourlay

Thanks Pauline.  I am using a limited 3 primary palette with already mixed grays in 4 values.   This seems to work well for me in my alla prima outdoor painting.  I'm gearing up for a 12 long plein air festival this June; I have never done anything even close to that extensive a competition before.    You will see me post a whole lot more plein air work here the next few months.   Stu

Hello Pauline,  Thank you for your nice comment on my rainbow trout!   This was my first fish, scratch art is great for animals with fur, but a challenge for me doing a fish.  I hope your trout is exceptionally good tonight!  :)   I visited your fair community this past Sept and enjoyed myself as a tourist!  Waiting for our bus after touring the Roman Baths, I struck up a conversation with a young man selling his works of art.  I purchased a drawing for the church, an exceptionally done piece.  We chatted and he pointed out the "sham" castle up on the hill at the end of the valley..  The story was quite amusing.  Enjoy your trout and keep on doing your lovely art work..   Chuck :)  XX

  • Chuck Warner

Hi Polly,  I'm glad your trout was delicious!  I have fished for trout many time in the lakes, streams and rivers of Arizona, Utah, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska!  Fresh right out of a cold mountain stream, delicious!   It would have been a delight to have been able to meet you while in Bathe.  I did meet 5 artists when the guided trip was over, it ended at Stratford upon Avon, we rented a car and drove south to Brighton and spent 7 days driving along staying in B and B's.  Met an artist about 20-30 miles from Brighton in a small village named Goudhurst, her name is Jenny Dalleywater and she is an excellent scratch artist.  She infected me with the 'itch' and now I'm scratching all the time..  I hope you are having a great week..   Are you aware of the site paintmyphoto.ning.com  It's a great place to look for subject matter.  It's free and last time I checked they had over 119,000 photos posted...  Check it out..  I'm there too..   Chuck  :)  XX

Thank you Polly!!!   a great one word comment!!!   Chuck  :)  XX

Hi Polly, So glad you like my Springtime Fawn!  These smaller works (5"x7") are becoming easier and quicker with the more I do.   I'm learning with each new work and that makes doing them more rapidly.  Also, if it's not a commissioned pet portrait I have a bit more artistic license, where as with a commissioned work, takes more time to get the pets personality down just right.  Also, being retired I can work on my pieces as long as I want and I have the benefit of a wife who loves my artistic efforts and so, I don't have laundry, cooking (except BBQ), etc..  I do wash the dishes, dual purpose for me, makes me look like I'm helping and also gets any grease of my hands.. :)    Chuck :)  XX

Thank you Polly for your lovely comment on my red parrot tulip and video.

Hi Polly,  I've been doing scratch since Oct of last year.  I have just fallen in love with the medium.  I was a watercolorist and still use w/c's to color my scratch pieces.. I am delighted that you like my efforts..  Chuck :)  XX
