Very much a challenge for me Nancy.  I  was just shaking when I did mine.

Thank you Stu, Dorian and Li. It was such a challenge to plan everything ahead of actually painting. I don't think I do that enough with landscapes. Being a realist, I have not always made my brush strokes as loose as I was forced to in these paintings. I see Richard making a brush mark and just leave it alone. That is what I would like to do...and know which strokes should be left as is. Another challenge was changing the color of each. In landscapes it's easy to simply match the color and values we see. Here, that was not an option. All in all, this was an extremely valuable workshop. Li, that is why I did that one with the apple and strawberry-I wanted to see if what I learned in the workshop could be applied.

I was taken away from that strawberry. I should vote for this one too, I like your color manipulation, the light , the shape of the pears , the value and also your brushwork, so relaxed and simple but did the nice job.  I just recieved an email from one of my Chinese friend and he advised me not to be too hard for myself to learn painting and take care of my health as he saw my pears were trembling and drunk.Ha, ha, ha.  My husband also comment them as drunk pears. Now you know why I like yours.

Hi Nancy

I just saw your pears and they are wonderful.  I have enjoyed this workshop very much!  I had not trouble voting, because the easiest way was to  click on Photos and then type in Workshop5 and they are all there.  Some other member suggested this and she was so right.  And to night I came here and clicked on most recent and your pears came right up...........dor:))

Nancy, I just saw your pears when I got your message. The postings this month are very messy; too many single pears and too many postings that are not the challenge (to paint 4 pears with varying backgrounds in no more than 10 minutes each. Very hard to vote. I like your pears. Nice brushwork, good color harmony, excellent reflected light and nice shadows--you did much better than I did; my pears look a little like potatoes with not enough saturated color, but not as "dabby" as the last workshop submission. Stu
