Oil on textured panel, 11" by 14". About 4 PM on the hiking and biking path along Corte Madera Creek. This was my painting for the day in the MOS (Marin Open Studios) Plein Air Art Group's paintout. Michael Severin was our visiting artist and did a terrific demo that morning. Laura Xu painted a nice painting with some help from Michael after the demo. The three of us had 2 great painting days in Marin and the group loved Michael's demo; he is now a member!

Thanks Olivia; I was really in my zone that afternoon, and yes, Michael, Laura and I were having a great time. Stu

Love the feel of this and the brushwork in your foliage. Looks like you've all been having a high old time!

Thanks Dor. This past year and a half I have managed to average about two outdoor paintings per week; that's about 150 plein air paintings. With that many brush miles, things have to improve; when they improve, I enjoy it even more. The last 6 months Laura Xu has been driving all the way here to paint with my Saturday painting group, and just like her posts here she just vibrates energy when you paint with her. About a month ago she asked me where I got all my energy when we paint, and I told her that I was getting it from her. Having Michael visit this past weekend and the three of us painting to ther for two full days was just the icing on the cake; we had a great time. Next repeat will be when the three of us take a 3 day workshop from Frank Seranno in the Eastern Sierras.in October. Much more fun painting outdoors with good friends than alone; good for the mind, body and soul. Stu

Thanks Ann. I have been working a lot on my composition. As I look at the page on here with my three paintings and Michael's, I can see that I could use some work on pushing my color saturation a bit; that's one of the lessons right now in the VAA program, so this stimulates me to do a little homework and practice that. Thanks Steinunn, Michael, and Ian. Once Michael had so successfully completed his demo and teaching, I was able to relax and really get into my zone as well.
