Nancy, he told me my trees were too dark and my sky was dull and boring.  I fixed all this stuff and it helped a lot.  You can find exactly what he said in the WetCanvasLive forum thread for student critiques. http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=925972    Just click on the link and it will take you there.  I am also attaching my improved painting after his critiques.  If you are taking classes from him he will critique paintings for you.  Vida has sent him a lot of stuff to critique; she is really high on his classes and her painting has improved spectacularly over the past year.  Just wait a bit before you buy any more videos from NorhtLight; I have been in contact with the Senior Marketing Manager for Fine Art at F+W and I think they almost have the problem all nailed down.  Johannes is busy teaching a workshop near him this weekend, so he's not responding, but there is nothing he can do about it right now.   There's another thread on the WetCanvasLive forum called "How many videos are there" or something like that.  You can see what's going on from that.    Stu

I'm just curious, what did curious, what did Johannes tell you to do to this painting? I am planning to do his next workshop and still would like to purchase his other ones, but get no response from them. I now somehow have two sets of his #5 and 6 because I thought that perhaps the first one did not register with them. Then I stupidly purchased 7 & 8 with no better luck. They never sent me an email as they did before with download instructions. I have written emails to everyone...even Johannes, but I get no response from them. I have absolutely no idea what to do now. You said that you spoke to someone about a problem. How did you do that?

Stu, this painting is just amazing! You really captured the exact way the town must have looked just at that moment. The way you captured the glowing light and the sogginess of that early evening makes me want to take out an umbrella. Boy do you paint street scenes well!

Thanks Vidal. You are absolutely correct about JVs courses, but for the more advanced painter who just wants to paint water or trees, etc. better, the shorter and specific courses are an excellent way of getting up to full speed quickly. Vida come rejoin these competitions; we're going to do landscapes again and need your passion. Stu
