11x14" oil on canvas board
This was started at the Paso Robles workshop. i am glad I had the opportunity to finish it. Anyway, this is a fond memory of that wonderful time with Richard and of the charming winery where we painted.

Michael, thank you. You hit on the decisions I was making throughout the process. That old truck is the focus, and my challenge was to draw the eye to it. There were many changes along the way. Your comments validated those decisions.

I think this is great Nancy, not really comfortable putting in my amateur input...but trying to see things myself.  I'm still struggling with mine, lots wrong!

Very handsome composition Nancy!  The rooster in the foreground plane helps with the illusion of depth ..especially since you overlapped its tail with the cars cast shadow ..a very good decision.  I like the way your composition sets up like a still life!!! ..your elements are connected into one interesting shape.  I also love the little "pointers" you have scattered around your comp. ....leading the eye to the focal point ..the car.!!  That opening behind the truck and between the two sheds is really a nice touch ..it gives us entrance into the background plane ..setting up even more depth!!!

Thank you, Candi. I see what you mean. Actually this was started at the sight. I did not change the composition because it took so much just constructing that crazy truck and barn. All I did was finish what I started. Maybe I will do another one with a different composition. Thanks again.

I really do like everything you've done in this painting Nancy!  Think maybe that it would be even more effective if the view didn't seem it was  from your feet, maybe an inch eliminated from the bottom?  Do really like the view of the truck pushed back further though!  I'm struggling with mine now (mainly color) and also wishing I would have done something more like this.
