16 x 20 oil --looking for critiques - I've left the foreground rough - used a palette knife for texture...wondering about that and about the skin tones--tried to keep her in sunlight,, thus light, but I don't know if she looks washed out? I've wanted to paint this for quite some time and was inspired by workshop 42

Thanks all for the kind words..Thomas good point re the lack of shadows..I see strong highlights in her hair and face..will recheck and perhaps take a photo with my real camera vs the IPAD. I purposesly kept the bg on the dark side thinking the front would appear 'brighter' but I didn't account for shadows!! Will see where I can make adjustments! Thanks for your keen observation!

LindA a I think I can make her hair less full which might help her look more girlish!! She's actua 2 in this photo.

Yes...Complex..and cute..and fun to look at......You mentioned her skin tones.....You wanted to keep her face sunlit........Great painting...but sunlit..?//. I don't feel the sun in the rest of the painting...No strong cast shadows....The backgroungd sky...Seems foggy and gray...Which is just fine........Call it done...Good job!!!!!

Great work Lori! I would leave it like it is if you ask me. It's a complex work and easy to get out of the balance it has.

Lovely scene, Lori, but I can't help thinking
that the child's head is too big or perhaps her features are
Too adult. How old is she meant to be?
