"Great video...question Richard...in creating the green glaze, would you consider glazing first yellow, let it dry, then blue..pure colors? Would the color optically mix at a greater intensity?"

Autumn in the Park WIP

Posted on November 30, 2016 at 6:30 18 Comments

I am trying to get back into painting and have chosen something from my neighborhood - an autumn scene- I love the abstract patterns in the water, the pop of sienna in the focal tree, the diagonals that move the eye through the scene- I am struggling with whether to crop...I think I like the depth in the current view. Onto more thumbnails and then a value study.  I confess, I already started this twice, without the proper process and of course not to my liking.  I must really discipline…

A Stroll in the Park WIP

First, many thanks to Michael for his kind offer to help me achieve my goals with this painting!..and to my friends here who have been so supportive.  This is the first painting I'm attempting since losing my husband to a battle with stomach cancer.  It's been a difficult time for me and this marks a beginning step in healing my grief. The source photo I'm using is from our vacation at Cape Cod only last July when life seemed so sunny & bright - and this painting is a tribute to that…

Recent portrait commission

Posted on April 7, 2015 at 4:38 6 Comments

I recently finished a portrait commissioned by a groom as a wedding present for his bride..her dad passed away when she was only four years old..the portrait was of her father. It was grueling because of the poor quality of reference photos..obviously, no digital photos..only faded Polaroids and a dis colored wedding album to go by....not to mention the pressure as this was such a sentimental gift!

Many, many attempts scratched and daily prayers to find the way to make this happen…

Posted on November 16, 2014 at 18:08 33 Comments

After a several week break - waiting for the dead layer to dry completely, then caught up at work & home with obligations..finally getting back to my painting:)

I started the color layer last night and went back in tonight to continue working on the pearls and ribbon.  I'm undecided…

Hello Lori and of course I'll accept the friend request!  I have not been on CA for quite some time, or VAA for that matter, but I am now at least getting back to speed on VAA. I'll have to start posting here again.  Let me know what you wanted to know about Photoshop and I'll gladly help.  I use it for work alot and it is quite a great tool on many levels.
