Oil on canvas panel 11" by 14" plein air. Beautiful day at a park in Santa Rosa yesterday. First time painting with North Bay Plein Air Artists; a number of friends were there. I got quite a bit more color in this one. Loved the little boats for rent and the bent tree. I found a big redwood tree to paint under, so I didn't have to get out my umbrella.

Thank you Ian, Laura, Thomas and Dor. Ian, those are logs cot up for firewood on the left, but they could be varied a bit more; since they are not in the focal zone, it's good that the lack of detail fooled you into thinking that they were rocks. Laura, yes, I changed my palette this weekend for the palm tree and this painting. I am using Frank Seranno's palette of white (I use Gamblin's quick dry white), cad yellow light, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, alizarin crimson (I use Gamblin's Alizarin Permanent), ultramarine blue and thalo green. For this one I added a yellow-orange for the boats ( Michael Harding yellow lake deep). I sure got a lot more color in these two paintings. I am getting used to this palette and will use it in our workshop next month.
