I found a photo with a whole row of gondolas and decided to apply three to the assignment and put Richard's background in. One gondola is a whole lot easier than three. :-)

Lori, I too am not a light expert. I have no idea whether it was sun rise or sunset. My thinking was to focus on the gondolas making them really strong. Actually, in the painting, the sky shows up a bit darker...especially in the right. I photographed it several times with this same result. Thank you for you kind thoughts and observation. :-)

What an undertaking! Really nice work on the gondolas..you're right... One was tough enough! You've done three so well:) your buildings sit in the back very nicely..the light on the gondolas looks like dawn just before the sun makes it up in the foreground, though I wonder if the sky would then be as light? I'm no sky/light expert so am unsure if that even makes sense?
