Oil on canvas panel 11" by 14". plein air, painted at Bullhead Flat at China Camp State Beach Park between 4:00 and 5:30 PM. Tide was in and late aftrernoon color and shadows were there. Compare this with the on easel shot posted yesterday. Only change is signed in cad red light and a couple of sparkles of this color throughout the painting to unify it. No real studio changes.

Great painting Stu!!   Great comp. .....nice "L" configuration.  Looking at your previous post, I noticed the difference between your painting and the actual scene ..side by side.  I know you are looking to get more color, but maybe you could  think about setting up  a little more contrast in your work?   A splash of sunlight on the bluff would really give you the contrast to make that small area of the bluff come alive.  You have a small slit of light there, but not enough contrast to really nail it down as your focal point ...or any focal point.   Your sunlit grass at the bottom of the bluff, would really pop by the use of more contrast ..not necessarily color.  Anyway, take a hard look at your contrasts before you start messing with your color saturation ....you might find that your current use of color is fine.
