oil on canvas panel 11" by 14" Second layer--dry underpainting coated with Galkyd lite (like Liquin) and wiped off partially with paper towel and painted into with a dab or Galkyd lite on brush. Sky lightened, color in shadows, rocks brightened, some detail added. Third layer and more detailing in foreground and focal point remains to be done. Will also add more atmospheric perspective and glaze over some of the shadows to warm up the shadows by knock back the blues a little in the next layer.

Nancy, I posted it on Wet Canvas Live in the thread for Jo's critique; I haven't seen his response yet and he's been real busy trying to get his Sunday paint along classes going. Thanks for the compliments. Stu

I first saw a thumbnail size version of your painting and was impressed by the strong composition, great lead in, wonderful contrast, and you did a great job with those rocks. Jo would be proud of you!

Should be done tomorrow or the next day.  I will probably post it for Johannes' critique also.  Thanks, Nancy.  Stu

I can feel the heat of the desert here. Stu, you Johannes would be proud of you with the way you handled those rocks. I'll be anxious to see the final.
