Hi everyone,

great to be in touch with fellow artists, I am a retired Police officer and live in the UK. Painting has always been my hobby, but now I am trying to paint a 5"x7" canvas every day. I paint in oils but also use acrylics and I work mainly in a realistic style and paint still life and landscape. At the moment I use my own photographs for the landscape work but intend to venture outside every day as soon as I pluck up the courage.

Hi Lorri, Thanks for the welcome.

I love your painting, it is so full of movement and so confidently executed. I have not tried watercolour and pastel. Having seen your painting I think I might have a go myself.

Hello Al, I am stuck when it comes to painting from photographs as i tend to do all my stuff plein air, so in order to to work shops I will have to learn!

Bryan, welcome.  Quickest way to meet other artists is post some work.  The artists on this site are friendly and helpful.  Good for you painting a canvas daily; that's a great way to quickly improve.  Look forward to seeing your competition entry.  Stu
