Hi Mark, I love these kind of scenes where we are looking down a long beach to the distance. Good job on directing the eye to the distance. I like the subtle color change from foreground to distance. A few things to consider: 1. You have a lot of open space with radiating lines taking us all the back to the distance ... but you do not reward us with anything to look at when we get there .... you need a focal point near where all the lines merge, whether it be in the mid distance or distance. 2. You have a size relationship problem going on .. the gulls and waves in the mid and far distance, respectively, are too large .. it is messing with your illusion of depth. 3. You have good gradation in the foreground, but you also need that gradation in the sky 4. Be careful of those gull reflections on the wet sand ... they should be vertical, not diagonal, 5. Look for variety wherever you have repetition ... you have variety of line at the edge of your wet sand, but your waves lack variety .. they are repetitive in shape, line, color, size, and edges ... even the gull flying mimics the repetitiveness of the waves. It looks like I pointed out a lot of things .. but not really ... overall, I think you did quite a nice job on this piece!
