It was easier to send the background almost to oblivion!
Maybe should have cooled down oranges in middle distance

Lovely loose style there Annie! Almost looks like a watercolour. Good stuff.

This has an otherworldly quality. I like the way you moved the red orange around and played with a contrasting blue. It really does go back in space giving that 3D quality. Lovely, Annie.

I know that Gamblin and Grumbacher make it in oils and Golden makes it in acrylics. I think it's fairly commonly used. It's really a very dark orange or rust color. I don't think you'll have trouble finding it. Stu

Thanks Stu - Who makes 'Earth Red'? I'll look out for it - always up for a change! Sometimes I use Raw Umber and Ultramarine - or Indigo for a black but that's not transparent at all.

Annie, I use ultramarine blue and transparent earth red to make my blacks and grays. Transparent earth red is more transparent than is burnt sienna; it's a synthetic iron oxide and you can get beautiful warm and cool grays by mixing it with ultramarine blue and some titanium white. Stu
