"Priceless"
Oil on Board. 6x6 inches

I found this little womderful silver creamer for .99 cents at a thrift store. It made me think of the things we throw away and what is priceless. What treasuries do we walk past every day and never even notice? What do we simply toss aside when no longer needed or slightly tarnished or older?

Learnigs Points:
1. How to combine an item from life with an image and imagination (I have the creamer. I added the hummingbird after looking at several differnt images. I found the pose of this one on pmp but it was the wrong bird, so I improvised by remembering what I saw and remembering the ones from last summer that I hand fed)
2. Painting how colors reflect on a shiny object.
3. How to show the correct perspective by softening edges
4. How to show shadows correctly by softening the edges when further away, and harder edges when closer
5. Showing details, as in the feathers of the hummingbird, by just doing a few details, not every feather.
6. Added "air" around the subject by ligtening the background slightly

Lovely Pandalana, like the sentiment too very true.....I love the combination of an inanimate object and something which is so beautifully alive! well done.......

Very, very nice Pandalana!! ...It looks like you really observed what the light was doing to the silver creamer!! .right on!! :)  Put a nice frame on this one and sell it....it will sell.  :)
