This is not exactly from a photo. I went to google earth and went exploring in Venice. The colors are not quiet right on my monitor, not sure how it looks to you, but the stick has quiet a bit of dark red.

Learning Points:

1. Broken color. Still practicing. The yellow ocher against the grey is in the same value.

2. Working patterns into my composition. At first I thought it would never work, and if I had put too much detail in the boat, it would not have because there is just so much going on in the water, and the stripe of the shirt.

note, if I could do this one again, I would do more blending and less contrast in the water, and would have just used color to show the water by using high and low chroma.

I think your painting works nicely Pandalana.  You have a good composition, your water has nice contrasts and movement, and you have the detail where you need it ...the  figure.
